Future Proofing
Organisations try to keep up with technological developments or as a result of the policies of the company, but there are issues they have to face.
New hardware should be compatible with the existing hardware and software. An emulator can help with software so that for example an Apple can run Microsoft Office. An organisation may still wish to run their older (legacy) systems that may also require emulators.
Software and hardware may need updating to cope with increased demands and changing needs such as:
- Development of the business
- Improved performance
- Task driven change.
Future proofing attempts to lengthen the time until upgrades are required by estimating needs in the time to come and allowing for this by purchasing a system that exceeds their current needs in terms of storage, processing, speed and functionality so that the system can grow with the organisation.
