Input and Output Devices
Overview
Devices that allow data, in whatever form, to be entered into a computer
system are input devices.
Those which allow data to be extracted from the computer are output devices.
Those which store data are known as backing storage. Below are a few
examples.
Input Devices
- Keyboard (USB, Cordless Wireless)
- Mouse (PS/2, USB, Cordless Wireless, roller ball, wheel, optical)
- Joystick

- DVD-R & DVD-RW (measured in gigaBytes: 2.6/4.7Gb)
Backing Storage
- Hard drive (measured in gigaBytes: 20Gb, 40Gb, 80Gb)
- CD-R CD-RW
- DVD-R DVD-RW
- Zip Disk Drive
- Floppy Drive (though holds a very small amount of data)
